Tonewood Maple Wins Gold for Best Product Line at Summer Fancy Food Show

Vermont Company’s New Grade B Maple Cube Snags Silver Award for Best New Product

Waitsfield, Vermont—July 21, 2014—Tonewood Maple took home the much-coveted Gold Award for its line of artisan maple products at this year’s Fancy Food Show in New York City. The award, known as a sofi (Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation), honors the best and most innovative specialty food and beverage producers in the U.S. Tonewood was chosen as a winner from among nearly 3,000 entrants across 32 categories.

This is the first Gold Award for Tonewood, which produces 100% pure, single-sourced maple products from sixth and seventh generation Vermont sugarmakers. The product line includes single-estate Maple Syrups, spreadable Maple Cream, Maple Wafers, Maple Flakes, Maple Seasoning, a Fancy grade Maple cube, and a new product for 2014—the Grade B Maple Cube, a block of pure Vermont Grade B syrup. The Maple Cube was recognized with a Silver Award in the Best New Product Category.

Dori Ross, who founded Tonewood in 2012, attributes the company’s success to Vermont’s rich history of sugarmaking. “I dedicated my sofi Gold Award to the sugarmakers who are the true artisans,” she says. “It is nice to see these beautiful trees, and the generations of hard working sugarmakers, recognized.”

Since its founding, Tonewood has been committed to environmental preservation. To this end, the company partners with multi-generational Vermont sugarmakers to supply the pure maple syrup that goes into its line of products. As an additional means of support for the local sugaring industry, Tonewood created a unique Adopt a Maple Tree program, through which consumers can support responsible, small-scale maple syrup production in Vermont.

Tonewood is redefining a standard for taste, purity and elegance for maple products that is environmentally sustainable, 100% pure, forward-thinking, and elegantly designed.
