Maple Sugaring as a kid in Canada

This morning I called my middle sister in Canada to reminisce about our childhood growing up on a farm in rural Ontario and tapping trees and making maple syrup. She claims we used pork & bean cans on our trees and the sap was overflowing in minutes. Our dad was a 'tree hugger extraordinare'. He would nuture our dying elm trees with concoctions of gunk he created in our kitchen and try to glob it on the areas where the branches were dying. He also reforested our land long before it was in vogue. His passion for trees and a love of the land has been absorbed into my blood. So pleased to be helping with maple tree conservation and sustainability in my own small way. Adopt a tree www.tonewoodmaple.com. Help preserve the future.
