A Rhode Island man,Bernard Coleman, 50, was sentenced Tuesday to two years of probation. when he sold fake Vermont maple syrup online.
Coleman pleaded guilty in February to selling a maple-flavored cane sugar syrup that he made in his Rhode Island home after the price of real syrup increased.
Coleman must also pay several hundred dollars in fines.
