My all time, and now my youngest daughter's and my husband's, all time favourite breakfast is a really interesting concoction of oatmeal with savory ingredients. Check out this oatmeal breakfast bowl. It provides such an amazing base to your day, packed with healthy ingredients, providing lasting energy until dinnertime. This is my 'go to' breakfast before a long mountain bike on our Vermont Valley trails!
Savory Oatmeal Bowl
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Steel-cut or rolled oats
1 cup water
3 slices avocado
1 egg - soft-boiled
1/2 cooked and sliced sausage
1/2 lemon - squeezed
1 tsp olive oil
Sprinkling of Tonewood maple seasoning
Instructions:
Mix oats, water, and a pinch of salt and cook on stove-top or in microwave according to package directions. Top the oatmeal with avocado, sausage, and egg. Top oatmeal combination with drizzled olive oil and squeezed lemon juice. Sprinkle Tonewood maple seasoning over top.
